Extraordinary maintenance of Via delle Conce accommodation to combat degradation
Implementing party
Roma Capitale – VIII Municipality
Project description
The intervention saw the extraordinary maintenance of Via delle Conce. Located in the Ostiense district, within the Municipality of Rome VIII, the road connects Via del Porto Fluviale to Piazza Vittorio Bottego, near the Aurelian Walls and on the border with the Municipality of Rome I. The intervention consisted in the extraordinary maintenance of the roadway and pavements in order to combat degradation and increase the level of safety for citizens (especially at the railway underpass). The redevelopment of this area is particularly important given the presence of street art works. Indeed, Via delle Conce is considered an "open-air museum" offering visitors the opportunity to view works by renowned street artists including Sten&Lex, Herbert Baglione, MTO, Isiderio, Otam and Blu. Special anti-intrusion bird nets will be installed to make the railway underpass fully viable. Near street art works, small basalt or cobblestone rest areas have been created, equipped with design benches manufactured from entirely recycled and recyclable materials. Weathering steel slabs with the inscription "Street art" will be inserted into the pavement, with the objective of further enhancing the murals, solar roads studs (LED devices that do not require a power supply) will be applied near the graffiti, so as to illuminate them even in the evening.
