The eternal city changes forever

Once again, Rome is transformed and reborn. Thanks to an unprecedented investment season, we have the opportunity to implement an incredible regeneration project that will involve several areas of the city.
Our mission is to use these extraordinary resources to create a harmonious development model, to reconstruct a virtuous relationship between urban fabric and people, between city and environment, to mend tears and to enhance the capital's exceptional heritage.

WITHOUT CONSTRUCTION SITES THERE WOULD BE NO INCONVENIENCES TODAY, BUT NEITHER A BETTER FUTURE TOMORROW.

    Restoration of walls of Porta Angelica

    The intervention plan for the conservation of historical-artistic assets will include a series of activities aimed at ensuring the preservation and restoration of various artifacts. Initially, several diagnostic investigations on the materials will be planned in order to determine the nature of the layers superimposed on the original surface, with the aim of identifying the type of intervention to be carried out.

    In the specific case of Porta Angelica, there is a double chromatic layering, due to the replacement of a tower with a furnace in the 1920s, as designed in the context of the Spaccarelli-Piacentini project. The analyses will be carried out both on the materials and on the construction techniques in order to recognise and characterise the units relevant to the various construction phases, thus obtaining useful information to guide the conservative intervention on the features. Field analyses will also be carried out to characterise some parameters relating to the degree of cohesion of the material, thus obtaining objective data for the operational choices to be made for the consolidation intervention.

    The restoration operations will begin with the removal of unsuitable metal elements and the preliminary cleaning of inconsistent surface deposits. The maintained metal elements will be subjected to cleaning and protective treatment before proceeding to wet cleaning of the surfaces. Subsequently, samples will be taken for chemical cleaning. Before proceeding with the consolidation phases, the surface will be thoroughly cleaned and the partially detached elements will be shored to prevent damage during subsequent operations.

    For areas of greater artistic value, such as coats of arms in stone material, cleaning will be determined based on specific tests. Before grouting and styling the joints, laboratory and field tests will be carried out to identify the composition and particle size of the original mortar, maintaining consistency with previous aesthetic choices.

    The plasters, after the integration of the gaps and the restoration of the adhesion to the wall support, will be veiled with pigmented lime milk, guaranteeing visual continuity with the previous restoration interventions.

    Routine and extraordinary maintenance work on Public Residential Buildings at Via Padre Romualdo Formato 30 and 40

    The project involves the redevelopment of two Public Residential Buildings located in Spinaceto, part of Municipality IX. The properties at Via Padre Romualdo Formato 30 and 40 are undergoing the following maintenance interventions:

    • remake of the waterproofing of roof coverings;
    • reconstruction of the vertical adduction system;
    • renovation of the bathroom drain pipes using the "relining" method;
    • renovation of the plumbing of the oldest bathrooms;
    • restoration of single building units affected by leaks;
    • replacement of broken glass on stairwells.

    The reconstruction of roof coverings will involve a total area of approximately 1500 square meters between the two buildings. For waterproofing, a walkable reinforced resin was chosen. This material is weather-resistant, requires minimal maintenance, and can be easily repaired in case of damage.

    At number 30, the resin will be laid on the existing stoneware floor after careful cleaning and preparation of the surface.

    At number 40, the floating flooring will be removed and later reinstalled, the underlying non woven paving fabrics layer and the insulating panels will be removed and replaced. The resin will then be applied after cleaning and potentially repairing of the damaged sheath parts.

    For the renovation of the bathroom drain pipes, the "relining" method was chosen. It involves the insertion of a flexible sock impregnated with resin, so that the use of the bathrooms will not be forbidden for too long.

    The planned interventions are as follows:

    • preliminary video inspection;
    • hydrodynamic cleaning of the pipes;
    • preparation and impregnation of the tube;
    • inserting the resin-impregnated tube into the pipe;
    • resin polymerization;
    • reopening of lateral branches by milling;
    • control video inspection.

    SUSTAINABILITY

    Restoration of the pavements in Via Nomentana - Piazzale di Porta Pia

    The project, which is aimed at redeveloping the Porta Pia area, is divided into two lots:

    • The first provides for the creation of a new pedestrian crossing in front of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the extension of the cycle path in Via Nomentana, up to the intersection with Viale del Policlinico and the connection with the existing path along the Walls, the redesign of the bus stop on the side of the Ministry, the redevelopment of the pavements in Via Nomentana (up to Via Messina), the closure and covering of the access to the unused pedestrian underpass;
    • The second, on the other hand, involves the restoration of the large area surrounding the Monument to the Bersagliere, between Via Ancona and Corso d'Italia, with the construction of a pedestrian plaza with a large central flowerbed, partially paved and equipped with street furniture.

    Digital Facilitation Service Network: Centre Codes 1

    Thanks to the resources of the NRRP, Roma Capitale has created and implemented 25 Digital Facilitation Centres throughout the municipality.

    In the digital age, it has become essential to know and take advantage of the most common technologies, but not everyone is yet able to use them in complete autonomy. For this reason, the digital facilitation centres have been created to help all segments of citizenship to achieve the following objectives:

    • Promote the autonomous, conscious and responsible use of new technologies;
    • Promote the right to active digital citizenship for all and combat the digital divide;
    • Encourage the use of online services by individuals and Public Administrations and simplify the relationship between citizens and Public Administration.

    Each centre has a Digital Facilitator who is responsible for assisting users, identifying the needs in the use of digital services and the Internet in general, providing support, guidance and personalised assistance, and promoting the safe and conscious use of the Internet, email, applications and public digital services. Micro-training courses are also active, both in person and through online channels, in order to reach as many users as possible.

    There are currently 25 active centres, but work is in progress to almost double their number in the coming months.

    Extraordinary maintenance of the municipal road network – Municipality XII Viale delle Mura Gianicolensi

    In view of the Jubilee 2025, Roma Capitale is organising maintenance and improvement works on both main and local roads in order to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and tourists throughout the city. This programme involves all 15 municipalities of Rome, each responsible for the resurfacing of the roads under its jurisdiction, with a special focus on connecting axes. The investment will be equally distributed among the municipalities and interventions will be allocated through a centralised tender to ensure uniformity and consistency. The maintenance will include resurfacing the bituminous conglomerate paving, cleaning the drains for rainwater disposal, restoring road markings and maintaining the areas adjacent to the roads.

    • restoration and recovery of the Sixteenth-century loggia, original access to the villa;
    • restoration of the staircase and adaptation with elevator from the Nineteenth-century portal overlooking Via Nazionale;
    • renovation and redevelopment of the archaeological area.

    With an initial funding of € 2,700,000.00, the executive project of the first batch was drawn up, whose work began on 11 April 2024. This first phase includes:

    • vegetation recovery and redevelopment of the garden;
    • recovery of the pavilion on the corner between Via Nazionale and Largo Magnanapoli, intended for use as a coffee house and installation of an elevator connecting to the garden;
    • restoration and recovery of the Sixteenth-century loggia, original access to the villa, with museum accommodation and recovery of the cordonata.
