Archaeological Monumental Site (CARME) - Carme Pedestrian Ring: redevelopment of road paving

Implementing party

Roma Capitale

Project description

The intervention includes the redevelopment of sections of the road paving of the ring of the Archaeological Monumental Site surrounding the Archaeological Park of the Colosseum, as part of the pedestrianisation and redevelopment of Via dei Fori Imperiali.

The aim is to reconstitute a pedestrian ring that could involve several street routes, increasing the usability of  a historical and archaeological context of great value.

Via di San Gregorio, Via dei Cerchi, Via di San Teodoro, Via Monte Tarpeo, and Via di San Pietro in Carcere could be transformed into pedestrian areas through work on the pavements.

These interventions, carried out with a focus on road safety, will represent a new way of experiencing some of the city's spaces that form the historical backbone of the urban fabric.
