Project description

The Aracoeli fountain was built in 1589 and is in a deteriorating state caused by a lack of maintenance. The following works will be carried out on the stone surfaces:

  • mechanical removal of inconsistent surface deposits;
  • removal of upper invasive weeds;
  • biocidal treatment;
  • mechanical removal of limestone deposits;
  • mechanical finish to eliminate limescale;
  • chemical cleaning;
  • crack reinforcement on disaggregated surfaces;
  • re-adhesion of detached fragments and sections;
  • mechanical removal of non-functional plastering;
  • plastering with mortar and hydraulic lime;
  • plastic integrations to fill defects in the decoration;
  • application of water-repellent coating.

The following works will be carried out on the metal surfaces:

  • overhaul and inspection of all metal elements;
  • antioxidation treatment of metal elements;
  • replacement of deteriorated and non-functional elements.

The interior of the basins will undergo the following work:

  • mechanical removal of the limestone layer;
  • removal of the surface waterproofing layer;
  • removal of non-functional plastering;
  • screed crack reinforcement;
  • preparation of the basin’s bottom;
  • application of new waterproofing material.
