Project description
The Aracoeli fountain was built in 1589 and is in a deteriorating state caused by a lack of maintenance. The following works will be carried out on the stone surfaces:
- mechanical removal of inconsistent surface deposits;
- removal of upper invasive weeds;
- biocidal treatment;
- mechanical removal of limestone deposits;
- mechanical finish to eliminate limescale;
- chemical cleaning;
- crack reinforcement on disaggregated surfaces;
- re-adhesion of detached fragments and sections;
- mechanical removal of non-functional plastering;
- plastering with mortar and hydraulic lime;
- plastic integrations to fill defects in the decoration;
- application of water-repellent coating.
The following works will be carried out on the metal surfaces:
- overhaul and inspection of all metal elements;
- antioxidation treatment of metal elements;
- replacement of deteriorated and non-functional elements.
The interior of the basins will undergo the following work:
- mechanical removal of the limestone layer;
- removal of the surface waterproofing layer;
- removal of non-functional plastering;
- screed crack reinforcement;
- preparation of the basin’s bottom;
- application of new waterproofing material.
