Project description
The Vaccheria is an old restored stable, open to the public since September 2022. This new space quickly established itself as an important cultural hub in Roman territory. The idea behind the project is that culture and beauty are fundamental rights; therefore, cultural spaces must be accessible both in terms of geographical location and cost for visitors.
As of September 2023, new facilities have been added to the ground floor of the exhibition space, including a study and co-working room, a reading room and a catalogue consultation room. In addition, a "Mirror Room" has been installed that divides the space into two parts: one intended for young artists who can showcase their work for free, and the other dedicated to exhibitions of international importance.
On the upper floor, the Vaccheria hosts a permanent photographic exhibition that tells its history prior to the renovation, thus acting as a place of memory and testimony. Overall, The Vaccheria is increasingly configured as a multidisciplinary cultural centre that promotes different artistic languages and supports emerging artists, with over 80 artists already involved in its exhibitions. Admission to the exhibitions is free thanks to the commitment of the volunteers who manage the reception.
In addition, The Vaccheria is connected to the Castellaccio park, inaugurated in 2023, by a cycle-pedestrian track. The Vaccheria will continue to host numerous exhibitions and recurring events, such as the Jazz Festival and the "9 da leggere" Festival, confirming itself as a reference point for culture and the arts in Rome.
Looking ahead, The Vaccheria will specialise as a POP Art centre in Rome, offering spaces also dedicated to cinema, music and literature, thus combining the great masters of visual art with other artistic expressions.
