Caput Mundi: Sport and disability: a sustainable project to enhance the Sport City located in the Esposizione Universale di Roma 42 (EUR) area
Implementing party
Project description
The project proposal aims to increase the appeal of sport through various initiatives. Firstly, the “Mariner” sports centre located near Parco Centrale del Lago (Central Lake Park) will undergo renovation to host paralympic canoeing, rowing and sailing activities. This will include the construction of a jetty with reserved access, a slipway and storage, as well as changing rooms and toilets suitable for people with disabilities.
Additionally, a new sports centre will be built in a green area owned by EUR S.p.A. The centre will include sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and rugby courts, along with support facilities such as changing rooms, toilets, storehouses, and a bar.
To facilitate mobility and enhance accessibility for disabled people to sporting events and activities, a specific electric shuttle service will be provided to connect the Sport City with various areas.
All initiatives aim to engage people with disabilities in sport and enhance the infrastructure and the services necessary for full and inclusive participation.
