Energy efficiency and redevelopment of the “Domenico Savio” Secondary School

The intervention is part of the “CIS ROMA” program. It is divided into two phases and aims at improving the energy efficiency of 212 schools distributed in the city’s 15 municipalities, through a total investment of €392 million.
In particular, for the “Domenico Savio” Secondary School, which has 528 students enrolled*, the following activities are planned:
- Improvement of the thermal insulation of the building through a series of interventions on the roof, on the perimeter walls and on the floor slab;
- Replacement of the windows with the installation of blackout closures;
- Implementation of solar thermal systems with glazed flat plates;
- Use of heat pumps with storage tanks greater than 150 litres;
- Installation of condensing boilers to increase the efficiency of the heating system;
- Installation of photovoltaic panels for the production of renewable electricity;
- Implementation of building automation systems for the intelligent control of technological systems;
- Replacement of existing lighting with more efficient systems through relamping.
All interventions are aimed at reducing consumption, and promoting energy efficiency and the environmental sustainability of the school.
