Geospatial data acquisition for GeoRoma
Implementing party
Project description
The GeoRoma project aims to develop a spatial data infrastructure (RTD) in the Cloud environment of the Data Center of Roma Capitale, collecting, certifying and structuring geographical data from the GIS systems of the departments. The objective is to promote accessibility and data sharing through front-end services, not only for the administration and citizens, but also for public and private operators operating in the territory, in line with the logic of Open Data.
GeoRoma is also strongly connected to other applications such as Roma Smart City and Roma Data Platform, created as enabling tools for the Smart City and useful for improving the experience and collecting feedback from city users.
The project aims to use advanced technologies, including digital acquisition of geospatial data, LiDAR, BIM technologies and drones, to create an efficient and interconnected information system, capable of responding to the needs of the city and its citizens.
The main objectives are:
- optimization of resources and provision of quality applications for the management of phenomena that affect daily life, including mobility, work, environment, public events and emergencies;
- improvement of communication between the administration and citizens or companies to promote active participation in the territory;
- enhancement of the role of GeoRoma as a cartographic reference base for the Smart City Plan of Roma Capitale and the Roma Data Platform, allowing to connect all vertical information and services to the territory of Roma and neighbouring municipalities;
- prevention of geological and structural criticalities, anticipating any urbanization problems and carrying out corrective actions;
- creation of a solid geospatial database for the planning and development of mobile mapping projects and for monitoring the evolution of the city over time.
