Bike box at Subaugusta metro station
Implementing party

IN TECH S.p.a.
Project description
"Bike box" are structures designed for the safe and secure parking of bicycles (similar to lockers). They provide an enclosed environment, reducing the risk of theft and vandalism. They are equipped with secure locking systems and advanced access and management technologies, such as online booking systems, mobile apps, and access control via badges or smartphones.
The Multimodal Hub project has been a significant step toward transforming Rome’s transport hubs into more accessible, functional, and welcoming spaces. The creation of new transport hubs and the optimization of existing ones have helped weave a more integrated and efficient transportation network. This improved connectivity has had a direct impact on users, attracting new commuters and encouraging alternative and sustainable mobility choices.
The development of multimodal hubs has responded to a growing demand for sustainable mobility. By integrating services for bicycles, electric vehicles, and shared mobility with public transport, an intermodal system has been created that promotes the use of low-impact means of transportation. The expansion of bike parking, including the introduction of Mini-Bike Parking near public transport hubs, has made it easier for cyclists to combine biking with other means of transportation.
