Environmental Limited Traffic Zones, Pollution Charge, and Congestion Charge
Implementing party

Project description
The intervention has two main objectives: to complete the electronic passage system to monitor access to the Green Belt Limited Traffic Zone (LTZ) and to create a Central Electronic System to manage the Congestion Charge for Roma Capitale. This intervention aligns with the goal of improving air quality and reducing private traffic in and around the city centre. The automatic access control system to the LTZ will be part of a technological framework that monitors vehicular access, implements automatic controls, and optimises the use of LTZs according to environmental criteria. In addition, a central system will be developed that monitors the entry of vehicles into the central area of Rome, manages permits and communications with citizens, and initiates the sanction process for non-compliant behaviour. The Jubilee funding will cover the completion of telematic lanes around the border of the Green Belt, the upgrading of the control centre, and preparations for the Congestion Charge in the VAM-defined area.
