New Centro Carni - Via Severini tram depot
Implementing party
Project description
As part of the upgrading of Rome's tram network, a new depot was built in Via Gino Severini, near the Centro Carni (Slaughterhouse Complex), used for parking and maintenance of trams. As part of the PUMS (Urban Plan for Sustainable Mobility) project in Rome, the new depot contributes to consolidating the tramway section of the eastern area, in addition to that of Palmiro Togliatti.
The depot will be built in two phases:
∙ the first phase involves the construction of all workshop rooms, warehouses, offices, stalls, road network, services attached to the workshop, parking lots and technical rooms;
∙ the second phase, pending public or private funding, involves the construction of a steel coating that will cover all the tram stations, where a photovoltaic field with 1.2 MW of power will be placed. Other photovoltaic panels, with 200 kW of power, will be reserved for the exclusive use of the workshop, which will be set up with new tools such as bridge cranes, equipped walkways, metal stairs and mobile scaffolding.
