The intervention aims to modernize and improve commuter accessibility to the Roman coast near the "Leonardo da Vinci" Airport in Fiumicino. Specifically, the intervention involves the construction of a roundabout in the City of Fiumicino, at the current road intersection between the new Corridor 5 'Fiumicino – Fiera di Roma' and Via Lago di Traiano, at the initial section coming from Via Portuense near the railway viaduct accessing the airport terminal.
The roundabout will serve to:
make access to the road easier, smoothing commuter traffic flow between Rome and its coast;
create an alternative entrance and exit route for the coast and Fiumicino Airport from Rome in case of critical events on the highway;
increase the safety level of the intersection;
limit the transit speed of vehicles on both road axes, increasing user safety.
