Ponte dei Congressi
Implementing party

Project description
This project will improve traffic flow and connections between the GRA ring-road, the EUR district and the coast. It is one of the most significant mobility infrastructure projects in the south-western part of the city.
The new 259-metre-long bridge will help relieve traffic on the “Ponte della Magliana” bridge, currently the only link between the GRA ring-road and EUR district, whilst also improving traffic flow along Via Cristoforo Colombo, Via del Mare, Via Ostiense and Via Laurentina.
Furthermore, the simultaneous development of the Tiber River Park between the Ponte della Magliana and the new Ponte dei Congressi will contribute to the river enhancement programme already launched by the Administration.
Here are the details of the project:
- Creation of a new road system: a one-way roundabout will be built, linking the carriageways towards Rome and Fiumicino via connecting ramps. The carriageway towards Fiumicino will use existing platforms in the opposite direction, whilst the carriageway towards Rome will be newly built.
- Improvements and upgrades to adjacent roads: works will be carried out to improve and upgrade the roads adjacent to the new road system to ensure their functionality.
- Creation of a cycle and pedestrian network: a new network for cyclists and pedestrians will be built to promote sustainable mobility.
- Construction of the New Tiber River Park: plans are in place to create a new park between the Ponte della Magliana and the New Ponte dei Congressi.
