Redevelopment of historical paving: transformation of the roadway from cobblestone to bituminous conglomerate and vice versa

Implementing party

Roma Capitale

Project description

The intervention concerns the main roads in the territory of Municipality 1, adjacent to the Vatican City. Some of these streets will be redeveloped according to the "Redevelopment Plan for Historical Paving". Via Crescenzo and Via Cola di Rienzo will see the transformation of the paving from cobblestone to bituminous conglomerate. At the same time, other roads will be converted from bituminous conglomerate to sampietrino as part of the "Sampietrino Plan". The activities will involve main and secondary roads, some of which are crucial for traffic flow. The design and implementation approach will focus on the identification of specific strategies and the coordination of the different intervention phases, taking into account the characteristics of the road foundations. The area involved will be approximately 20,000 square metres.
