Redevelopment of Viale Cesare Pavese

Roma Capitale – IX Municipality
Project description
Viale Cesare Pavese, an urban arterial road with significant social, cultural and productive importance, plays a crucial role in the urban fabric of Ferratella, connecting the settlement with the EUR area. The intervention, completed in 2023, was designed to restore the compromised functionality and road safety, as well as return an important urban axis to the resident, working and student community of the area, extending from Viale dell’Umanesimo to Viale dell’Oceano Atlantico.
The main critical issues, including the deterioration of the road surface and the difficulties related to the presence of tall trees on car lanes, required targeted interventions. To preserve the trees, it was necessary to open the traffic divider in the affected areas and apply phytotherapeutic treatments to safeguard their health and promote their natural growth. At the same time, architectural obstacles have been eliminated through the creation of pedestrian slides, allowing easier and safer access. Traffic discipline has been revised to create new pedestrian crossings and ensure the safety of road users.
The intervention also included a complete renovation of the road pavement, the lifting of the manhole covers, the installation of new signs and targeted care for the trees. The extraordinary redevelopment of Viale Cesare Pavese represents a significant step in the care of the territory, and will soon be complemented with interventions to improve the sidewalks, financed with specifically earmarked funds.
