Tirrenica Tourist Cycleway: Rome - Fiumicino section
Implementing party
Project description
The new cycleway will extend for about 12 km, connecting the Castel Giubileo - Tor di Valle (Dorsale Tevere) bike path with the existing bike path in the municipality of Fiumicino. It will start from the existing track under the Ponte di Mezzocammino on the left bank of the river, with the construction of a bicycle and pedestrian ramp protected by chestnut wood fences, to the Ponte monumentale di Mezzocammino. After crossing the river, the route will continue on internal service roads, passing under the monumental bridge and the GRA bridge deck. The cycleway will continue along the right bank, with resurfacing and equipped areas. A bicycle and pedestrian footbridge will allow the crossing of the Rio Galeria, providing continuity to the Fiumicino border. The materials chosen will comply with the Management Plan of the State Nature Reserve "Roman coast", including wood for furniture and artifacts, ecologically stabilised soil, and reinforced soil. This section of cycleway from the Tirrenica to Roma Centro will connect with the existing bicycle network and the GRAB project.
