Caput Mundi: Restoration of the monument dedicated to Anita Garibaldi
Implementing party
Project description
The intervention on the bronze monument was divided into different phases. First, the cleaning of the bronze surfaces was carried out to remove the dirt accumulated over time. Then, a corrosion inhibitor treatment was applied to protect the bronze from the harmful action of atmospheric agents. Any cracks or damage were plastered before the protective coating was applied.
As for the restoration of the stone surfaces, the first step was the cleaning of the surfaces, followed by their consolidation, in order to improve their resistance and durability. Any cracks or damage were plastered before the protective coating was applied.
A crucial aspect of the intervention concerned the inspection and protection of the internal structure of the bronze horse, for which specific operations were carried out. Moreover, a monitoring system for the microclimatic conditions of the bronze was installed, allowing for the control and adjustment of the surrounding environment.
As regards the rampant horse statue, the temporary support structures were replaced with new ones that improved its stability. These solutions were carefully evaluated not only from a structural point of view, but also from an aesthetic and perceptive point of view, in order to guarantee maximum respect for the monument.
The essential goal of the intervention was the restoration of the structural integrity and original appearance of the bronze monument, ensuring its long-term preservation and respecting the aesthetic impact of the work.
