"Joyce Lussu" Library - San Paolo district

Implementing party

Roma Capitale

Project description

The new municipal library in the San Paolo district, named after Joyce Lussu, a partisan, poet, writer and translator, and opened to the public in October 2023, has been designed to attract young people, also thanks to its proximity to the Roma Tre University.

The new cultural facility of Biblioteche di Roma, located in Municipality VIII, joins the Archipelago Library in Via Benedetto Croce and the lending point at the Industrie Fluviali coworking in Ostiense.

The property is a multi-purpose centre of over 400 square metres, located on the ground floor of the new residential complex, the result of the urban regeneration work of Via Costantino.

The library consists of a study room with 44 seats (30 tables equipped), a room for children, girls and boys, a reception area with two seats for the public, one for consulting the online catalogue, one for self-lending and one for the use of tablets to allow access to different digital content.

There are currently about 6,000 volumes available to citizens, ranging from fiction to non-fiction, from politics to history and comics with a section dedicated to the national project "Born to Read".
