La casa di Heidi
Implementing party
Roma Capitale – IX Municipality
Project description
The Project, previously located at the old headquarters in via Comisso, 23 since 2015, was transferred in January 2023 to new premises located in Viale Achille Campanile, 95, thanks to ordinary maintenance funding provided by the IX Municipality, EUR.
La casa di Heidi (Heidi's home), named in memory of a homeless woman who died due to the harsh winter temperatures, is a project aimed at safeguarding the physical and mental health of homeless people, also considering the ongoing climate change. The facility accommodates a maximum of 16 people, men and women, every day from 6:00 PM to 9:00 AM of the next morning. During the previous year, the Home assisted 37 homeless people.
Inside the property, guests have access to evening meals and breakfasts, toilets, laundry service, as well as the possibility to contribute to the maintenance of the Home and the outdoor garden. The primary objective of the project is the prevention of the risks associated with life on the street, through the activation of a solidarity network composed of lay and religious volunteers, in order to provide support to the homeless and to help them recover dignity and independence. Over the years, numerous individuals have successfully achieved these goals, highlighting the effectiveness and value of the project.
