Completion of metro line A equipment renewal
Implementing party

Project description
The renovation of the railway infrastructure, in the Ottaviano-Battistini section of line A, will provide for the total replacement of the railway system (rails, crossbeams, track ballast, and access between tracks). To ensure the safety and operability of the infrastructure, it will therefore be necessary to extend the intervention work currently in progress.
The intervention will cover about 10 km of track and will also include elements such as switches, turnouts, and point machines. The current infrastructure requires that all the rails be replaced with the 50E5 standard appropriate for the limited speed of the line (80 km/h). The RFI 230W14 monoblock crossbeams with Vossloh elastic attachments will be laid on siliceous stone chips, which will be renewed at a depth of at least 30 cm below the crossbeams. In addition, the turnouts present in the relevant section will be replaced and aligned with those already renewed in the older section. Type 50/170/0.12 turnouts with manganese core elastic hinges will be used with L90 point machines, which are more advanced and reliable forms of technology to ensure line safety.
Working site considered partially closed and operating at the beginning of the Jubilee Year.
