Rome Technopole Territorial Strategies
Implementing party
Rome Technopole Foundation
Project description
Roma Capitale has granted the surface right for approximately 7,500 m2 to the Rome Technopole Foundation, which brings together the 7 main universities based in Lazio, the 4 major public research bodies, Unindustria, the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Rome, the Chambers of Commerce of Rome, Latina-Frosinone, Rieti-Viterbo, other public bodies, over 20 industrial groups and companies, for the construction of the headquarters of a new technological hub.
The concession of spaces by the Municipality for the construction of the Rome Technopole headquarters is free of charge, will have a duration of 99 years starting from the signing of the specific agreement and is Rome's contribution to the Foundation, as founder promoter. The surface sold is located in the Pietralata quadrant, within the SDO Detailed Plan. The area was chosen both for the correspondence of Rome Technopole functions with those envisaged in the SDO (including research, technological transfer, training, and higher university education) and for the importance of the intervention for the entire quadrant. The Technopole will consist of 3 buildings plus the appurtenant areas and will be built in two phases: the first will involve the construction of a building on the area granted by Roma Capitale, carried out by Rome Technopole with NRRP financing (around 11 million euros). The second phase will involve the construction of two more buildings (plus appurtenant areas) with regional funds from the 2021-26 ERDF Regional Programme (around 20,000 million euros) carried out by Roma Capitale.
